Depuis la sortie de mon album je suis un peu rouillé niveau dessin. Pour y remédier, j’ai décidé de faire quelques “exercices, ou figures imposés. Je (ou quelqu’un d’autre) choisis un thème ou une situation au hasard, et je me donne un temps donné pour réaliser un dessin correspondant. Je n’invente rien bien sûr, cette “technique” est notamment très prisée par l’excellent Eric Canete, qui parvient à faire de véritable chefs d’oeuvre en …30 minutes.
pour commencer donc, voici un premier dessin, le sujet qui m’était donné était “un super héros se change, dans une chambre en bordel”
je me suis donné 30 minutes maxi comme délai, d’ici quelque temps si je vois que je stagne (et si je m’organise bien) je passerai à 1 heure

Since my album is out, i haven’t been drawing that much. To help me get back on track, i decided to “exercise” a bit, to do “assignements”. i (or someone else) chose a random theme or a situation  and i do the drawing in a limited time. of course i did not invent this kind of process, it has been largely used, for example by the talented Eric Canete, who achieves masterpieces in … just half an hour.
as a start, here is my first drawing, the subject was given to me and that was ” a super hero changes clothes in his messy bedroom”
i limited myself to half an hour. if later i find that don’t progress anymore (and if i organize my time well enough), i will extend it to a whole hour

Il était temps que je me remette à griffoner.
Je me remets donc à bosser sur mon portfolio, dans l’espoir de pouvoir le montrer à quelques “talent liaison” à la comic-con de San Diego, plutôt pour avoir des avis pro que pour réellement décrocher un contrat.

voilà je fais tout faire pour terminer ma petite histoire de 10 pages ainsi que quelques pin-up, mais les délais sont très serrés… donc si ce n’est pas pour San Diego, ce sera pour une autre convention, sans doute en Europe.
voici donc la 1ere page de l’histoire qui mettra en scène des personnages Marvel (c’est en fait la 3e version de cette page que je dessine, les autres datent de l’été 2009 et j’ai ré-écrit l’histoire entretemps.)

It was about time i get back to scribble a bit.
I am back on working on my portfolio which i hope to show to some “talent liaison” at the San Diego Comic Con, rather to have some pro reviews and advises than to actually get a contract.
Here i am, doing my best to finish my 10 pages story and some pin-ups too. The deadline is quite impossible, so if i am not ready for San Diego, hopefully i will be for another conventio, probably in Europe.
here is the first page of the story, starring Marvel characters (this is the third version of this page, as the previous ones was drawn in summer 2008 and i kinda rewrote the story since then)

i tried to take part of the event this week-end : les 23 heures de la BD. as the name implies, we had 23 hours to produce a 22 pages story plus cover and back cover. the subject was given on saturday at 1 P.M. and it was really interesting : multiple personnalities.

i began a story but had to give up after 3 pages : it took me to long to do those pages and i was never going to succed in producing the missing pages on time. plus, i wanted to help my boyfriend who was building our new kitchen from scratch.

anyway , here’s the link to see my few pages. i still want to tell that story, as a part of my next comic book project, so hopefully these pages wont’ be totally lost.

congrats to all the 23HBD team for managing to create such a cool event. timing for me was bad, but hopefully i’ll deliver next year !

j’ai essayé de participer ce week-end aux 23h de la BD. comme le nom l’indique, il s’agissait de créer une BD de 22 pages en 23 heures, plus la couv et la quatrième de couv. le sujet était dévoilé samedi à 13h et il était carrément intéressant : personnalité multiple.

j’ai commencé mon histoire mais j’ai du laisser tomber après 3 pages : ça m’a pris un temps monstre pour faire les 3 pages, et je savais que j’aurais pas eu le temps de livrer les autres à temps. et je voulais aider mon copain qui nous construisait une cuisine à partir de pas grand chose !

bref, voici le lien pour voir mes quelques pages. je compte bien raconter cette histoire, ça fera partie de mon prochain projet de comic book, donc ces pages ne sont pas complètement perdues.

félicitations à l’équipe des 23HBD pour avoir organisé un événement vraiment top. mon timing était pourri, mais j’espère bien que l’année prochaine je vais assurer.
